Dublin Castle Garden – Dubh Linn Garden

Dublin Castle Garden It's one of the city's most iconic and visited sites. It's free to enter and open year-round!

Description of the place

This beautiful garden is part of the complex of the Dublin Castle and was formerly used as a recreational space by the Viceroy of the British Empire and its officials.

It is possibly one of the most photographed places in the city due to the beauty of its gardens and the notable contrast with the medieval Castle.

Historical fact: Many centuries ago, there was a black pool at this location, where Vikings moored their ships when sailing along the River Poddle, which was once connected to the River Liffey. They called the pool Dubh Linn, which literally means "black pool." Over time, Dubh Linn became Dublin.

Dentro del Jardín del Dublin Castle se encuentra el Chester Beatty Museum It's considered the only museum in Ireland that isn't about Ireland! Chester Beatty was a wealthy philanthropist who donated his entire collection of ancient manuscripts and artifacts collected throughout his life from places as far away as China, Japan, Egypt, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
